UWC Syria follows a thorough and well-rounded selection process to identify motivated and talented young individuals who align with UWC’s values and mission.
The following describes the process and stages of the Syrian National Committee selection process.
Once you submit your application:
1. Stage 1 – Application Review
- An Administrative Check is first conducted to ensure eligibility based on nationality, age, and academic qualification.
- All eligible applications are reviewed by the selection committee and scored against the UWC selection criteria.
- Qualified applicants are shortlisted and invited to participate in a multi-step test process.
2. Stage 2 – Online Test
Shortlisted candidates are invited to participate in a multi-step test process.
The test typically includes three aspects: Assignment – Group Activity – Short Interview.
- Essay Submission Assignment: applicants are assigned two written essays, one in English and another in Arabic, to be completed in a short deadline.
- Group Activity: applicants participate in a group activity with fellow applicants, in groups of 6-8, during which a brief individual interview is conducted in a breakout room with the Selection Committee.
- Short Interview: short individual one-on-one interviews are conducted during the group activity to discuss the essays.
3. Stage 3 – Individual Interviews
Qualified finalists are invited to a panel interview where applicants discuss their motivations, aspirations, and alignment with UWC’s values.
After the selection process is completed, the final stage of nomination begins.
Nomination
After selections, the National Committee nominates the most promising candidates for placement at UWC schools and colleges. Successful applicants will:
- Receive an offer for a UWC placement, which may be fully or partially funded depending on available placements offered (all applicants will be requested to submit financial information to this effect).
